I was looking at a picture of an Indian sandstone deep relief carving of Devi, the curvaceous goddess who bestows fertility in womb and field on her devotees. I thought it would be great to show her holding the bounty of my wild yard: bananas, elephant ears, angel trumpets and sea grapes.

Moon shells are my favorite. The 'maculated' ones (spotted or blemished) are as multi-colored as the spalted woods that I like. This piece had a strange knot that I used as the eye.
